Lost Gardens of Gertrude Jekyll

c8xMany of Gertrude Jekyll’s gardens have not survived, but Fenja Gunn, in her book Lost Gardens of Gertrude Jekyll, has made a detailed recreation, through her watercolours, of 20 gardens; the author’s ‘garden pictures’ are based on plans of the lost gardens. The paintings illustrate every facet of Gertrude Jekyll’s versatile skills as a garden designer. Among the topics covered are borders, colours, plant combinations, ornament, water, rock gardens, roses, climbers and woodland gardens.
